Talk about Jesus

Waiting for the flight we could not use….

‘Jesus never says He is God’

‘Jesus says He is not God’

I have heard both of the statements when talking to people. The leader of the organization I am traveling for taught us recently on the Deity of Jesus. My favorite verse about this is:

Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.”

John 8:58 NKJV

But he pointed out many other places in the New Testament that attest to the Deity of Jesus:

Matthew 1:23

John 1:1-5,14

John 10:30

John 14:9

John 20:28

Romans 9:5

Colossians 1:15-20

Colossians 2:9

Titus 2:13

Hebrews 1

II Peter 1:1

I John 5:20

The other day as we were walking around talking to people, the partner I was with saw a group of three men that she felt like the Lord was bringing to her attention. We approached them and they seemed very skeptical of our motives and thought we were trying to trick them or something. We found out they were Muslim, but that is about it. I thought it didn’t go anywhere and would be unfruitful. But, five to ten minutes later, two of them came back to where we were and asked what we believed. I was able to tell them we believed in Jesus. Again, very short conversation, but I knew the Lord was able to make an impression through us if they came back to us. This was great encouragement for me that even the conversations they feel like failures and like I didn’t say enough or the right things, God can still use to draw people to himself. This reminds me of some encouragement one of my friends received previously from the Holy Spirit: “God can’t use what you don’t say.” That is, God’s Grace is much greater than our own seemingly eloquent or uneloquent words, we simply share out of the overflow of His Love in us.

Praise the Lord and thank you for praying: we have had many good conversations, our team continues to grow closer together, it has cooled off and my body liquid levels seem more normal.

Please pray as we were unable to get on our originally scheduled flights to our next city. Our team leaders are now looking at other options to get us there.
